AI strategy & roadmap

Assess where AI could support your organisation, compare opportunities and prepare a sequenced plan. Understand the data, skills, costs and governance each proposed application would need before committing to implementation.

How we can help

Leadership teams considering AI need a way to assess competing proposals. A useful strategy connects each proposal to a problem, a responsible department and a measure of improvement. It also makes the assumptions visible: whether the necessary data exists, who can review the output and how the application would fit into everyday work.

Ivany Concepts works with leaders and operational teams to assess readiness and develop a practical adoption roadmap. We consider the organisation's processes, technical environment, skills and appetite for risk. The resulting plan sets priorities and dependencies, with estimates that help management decide which opportunities to investigate, which to pilot and which to defer.

When this may be useful

  • Several departments have proposed AI tools, but there is no agreed method for comparing their value, feasibility or operating costs.
  • Management needs an adoption plan that explains the investment, staff responsibilities and data preparation involved.
  • Early experiments have produced mixed results and the organisation needs to decide what should proceed to a controlled pilot.

What the work involves

Assess readiness

Review relevant data sources, existing systems, working practices and staff capabilities. Identify ownership gaps and constraints that could affect implementation, including access permissions, review capacity and the quality of available information.

Develop and compare use cases

Work with departments to describe candidate applications in practical terms. Assess the problem, likely users, expected benefit and feasibility. Record why an opportunity is prioritised and the evidence still needed to support it.

Estimate requirements and costs

Set out development effort, potential service charges, data preparation and ongoing support needs. Make assumptions explicit and distinguish estimated benefits from measured results so investment discussions have a clear basis.

Prepare the adoption roadmap

Sequence opportunities alongside the data, skills and governance work they depend on. Identify owners, decision points and criteria for continuing a pilot. Present the plan with enough detail for leadership to assign follow-up work.

How the assignment runs

  1. Review the organisation

Meet relevant stakeholders and examine current processes, systems and existing experiments. Agree the decisions the strategy needs to support.

  2. Assess opportunities

Compare use cases using consistent criteria and review their assumptions with operational and technical owners.

  3. Agree the roadmap

Discuss priorities with leadership, refine the sequence and set out the preparation and approvals needed for the first stage.

What to prepare

These details will help us understand the starting point and agree a useful scope:

  • Strategic priorities and examples of operational problems under consideration
  • An overview of systems, data sources and existing AI use
  • Available budget assumptions and access to departmental decision-makers

If some information is still being developed, we can discuss what is available in the first conversation.

Good to know

Questions about this service.

For anything specific to your organisation, get in touch. We can discuss the requirements before you decide on an engagement.

Do we need to choose an AI platform before the assessment?

No. The assessment starts with your intended uses and constraints. Existing tools are considered, but platform selection follows the requirements. Ivany Concepts sells no software and takes no vendor commissions, so recommendations are independent of product sales.

What happens if our data is not ready?

The roadmap identifies the preparation needed, such as resolving ownership, improving records or obtaining appropriate access. Some opportunities may proceed with a narrower data set, while others should wait. Those dependencies form part of the recommendation.

Will the roadmap include expected returns?

Where there is enough information, we estimate potential benefits and costs using agreed assumptions. These are planning estimates. The roadmap also defines what a pilot should measure so later investment decisions can use evidence from your own operations.
