Curriculum design and TVET capacity building

Curriculum development and trainer support for TVET institutions and training providers. Define learning outcomes, develop course materials and assessments, and prepare trainers to deliver and review the programme.

How we can help

A course needs a clear relationship between what learners should be able to do, how they will practise and how their learning will be assessed. We help TVET institutions, training providers and capacity-building programmes establish that relationship when designing a new course or revising an existing one. The work begins with the learners, the intended skills and the institution's delivery context.

The service covers curriculum structure, learning materials, assessment design and trainer preparation. It can also include adding relevant digital and AI content to an existing programme. We work with the institution's academic and delivery teams to make the materials usable within their facilities, teaching arrangements and quality review processes. The institution retains responsibility for its formal programme approvals.

When this may be useful

  • You are developing a training programme and need an agreed structure linking learning outcomes, teaching activities and assessment.
  • An existing curriculum needs updating to reflect digital tools, AI-related skills or changes in the work learners will undertake.
  • Trainers need preparation and usable teaching resources before delivering revised content or a new capacity-building programme.

What the work involves

Curriculum structure and outcomes

Review learner entry levels and the skills the course should develop. Define learning outcomes, arrange topics in a workable sequence and identify the practice required to support each part of the programme.

Course resources and assessment

Develop the agreed content, exercises and trainer materials. Design assessments that relate to the stated outcomes and clarify the evidence learners should produce and the criteria trainers will use to review it.

Trainer preparation

Run train-the-trainer activities using the proposed materials. Practise lesson delivery, facilitation and assessment review, with time for trainers to raise questions about learner support, equipment and teaching conditions.

Review and improvement

Agree a way to collect feedback from trainers and learners, review assessment evidence and record revisions. Identify who maintains the materials and how changes will pass through the institution's quality processes.

How the assignment runs

  1. Review the learning requirement

Discuss the intended learners, existing curriculum and institutional requirements. Confirm which modules, materials and trainer activities fall within the assignment.

  2. Develop and review the materials

Prepare the curriculum structure, learning content and assessments with input from the institution. Check that activities can be delivered using the available facilities and resources.

  3. Prepare trainers and plan review

Work through delivery and assessment with the trainers. Record revisions and agree responsibilities for ongoing feedback, quality review and material updates.

What to prepare

These details will help us understand the starting point and agree a useful scope:

  • The existing curriculum or brief for the proposed programme, including intended learner outcomes
  • Learner entry requirements, trainer profiles and available teaching facilities
  • Institutional assessment, quality assurance and approval requirements relevant to the programme

If some information is still being developed, we can discuss what is available in the first conversation.

Good to know

Questions about this service.

For anything specific to your organisation, get in touch. We can discuss the requirements before you decide on an engagement.

Can you revise selected modules rather than a whole curriculum?

Yes. The assignment can focus on defined modules or learning resources. We review how the revised material connects with the rest of the programme so sequencing, assessments and learner expectations remain coherent.

Can digital and AI topics be added to an existing course?

Yes, where they support the intended learning outcomes. We review learner readiness, available tools and trainer needs before proposing content and activities that fit the programme's purpose and teaching environment.

Does curriculum support include accreditation or regulatory approval?

The service supports curriculum and assessment development and trainer capability. Formal approval remains with the institution and the relevant authority. Any submission requirements supplied by the institution can be considered when defining the assignment.
